Why is the oil in the car engine reduced?

April 16, 2014

Vehicle burning oil
Not only is the amount of oil abnormally reduced
Also leads to increased carbon deposition in the combustion chamber
The economy and power of the car decline
Excessive exhaust emissions and other adverse consequences
What causes the engine to burn oil?

1
The clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall is too large
This is mainly for older cars with a long service life. Under the operation of the engine for many years, the wear gap between the piston and the cylinder wall increases, resulting in different degrees of oil burning, which is relatively normal. The tightness between the piston and the cylinder wall can be increased by properly selecting the oil with a slightly larger viscosity.

2
Improper installation of piston rings or poor sealing
There are two types of piston rings: compression rings and oil rings. The compression ring is used to seal the combustible mixture in the combustion chamber; the oil ring is used to scrape the residual oil on the cylinder wall. Therefore, when the piston ring does not work normally, the phenomenon of burning oil will naturally increase. At the same time, improper installation of piston rings will also cause the engine to “pull the cylinder”, which will cause the engine power to drop and the car to run weakly.

3
Poor valve sealing performance
To put it simply, as long as the parts around the combustion chamber are not well sealed, it will cause more or less oil burning, and the valve seal is no exception.

4
Damaged crankcase ventilation valve or blocked vent
A damaged crankcase ventilation valve or a blocked crankcase vent has created excessive pressure in the crankcase.
When the engine is working, the gas in the combustion chamber will more or less enter the crankcase through the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall, causing blow-by gas. These blow-by gases will oxidize and deteriorate the oil, corrode engine parts, etc., and also make the crankcase pressure too high and destroy its sealing. Therefore, in order to avoid this phenomenon, crankcase ventilation must be implemented.

5
Failure to change oil and oil filter over time
When the oil is not replaced for a long time and the oil filter is not replaced or the use of unqualified oil, it will lead to the phenomenon of oil burning. Because the oil is mixed with impurities and other contaminant substances, the oil or the cooling effect is not good or the lubrication effect is not good, resulting in carbon deposition or excessive clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall, etc., and the phenomenon of oil burning is naturally unavoidable.
